Experience....

This past Wednesday was the start to 40 Days for Life. In the past I've heard about this, but this year, I actually felt it was time to do more than just pray for these babies and their mothers. We discussed the importance of the men in our Knights of Columbus council to be involved in events like this and to stand up, especially when we have such an important opportunity with the elections this year as well. A group of us in my Saturday morning Bible study group decided to get up EVEN earlier than our existing time to go out and spend an hour to pray in front of a clinic here in San Antonio. So this meant, not getting up at 0500 as usual for study at 0600, but an earlier time of 0400. We met at the restaurant we use for Bible study and then moved on to the clinic. When we got there, we found 2 other gentlemen that were there, and had been there for a few hours. We gave them some relief and took our position on the sidewalk in front of the abortion clinic. Even at the early hour, there was plenty of traffic going by. People going by in their cars going about their lives would honk and wave to us. It was a super feeling. What made it more was this week's Sunday readings. I had not even been able to give them a read until we made it Bible study and thats when it hit me. What we had done this morning, taking action, living like Jesus would want us to, was exactly right. The readings today were pretty direct... It's time to walk the walk and talk the talk if we want to keep focus on our faith and live what we believe. We will be out there ever Saturday at least for the next now 4 weeks to pray for an hour and show our support, to provide an alternative to those who might be considering have an abortion, and most importantly, for those going by that might have gone through with an abortion, that there is a healing afterward if they are willing. I encourage you to live your faith, whatever it may be, that you take a stand for the rights of the unborn and to reach out to those who might be considering taking the steps of abortion, without looking at all the options available to them.
